Sedibeng Iron Ore

Project Name: Sedibeng Iron Ore

Client: Sedibeng Iron Ore

Location: Northern Cape, South Africa

Lump sum turnkey (LSTK) design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of a 550tph iron ore crushing and screening plant.  The project was successfully delivered on time despite a record rainy season for the region that presented considerable challenges during the construction and installation phases.

Due to plant ‘footprint’ limitations, the plant had to be designed to fit within a predetermined space resulting in steeper conveyor angles.  A further complication successfully overcome by the Consulmet team during design and commissioning was the severe abrasiveness of the material.

The front-end was designed as a fit-for-purpose solution with a pan feeder as well as a double-deck scalping grizzly screen.  The plant incorporates a three-stage crushing circuit consisting of a primary jaw crusher, secondary cone crusher and closed loop recycle tertiary cone crushing circuit to produce the final product.  Both secondary and tertiary crushers are fed via surge bin-controlled feed to ensure optimal crushing, operation, and overall process stability.
